Role Description

Scarlet & Sam is expanding, and we’re looking for a driven and detail-oriented Product Developer to join our small but fast-paced team in Richmond. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the end-to-end development of new styles - from initial concept and sourcing to sampling and final production - while contributing to the ongoing evolution of our product strategy and core range.

You’ll report to our founder and work closely with suppliers, and production partners to bring new ideas to life, maintain quality standards, and help ensure all product launches run smoothly and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Support in designing commercially viable styles that align with the Scarlet & Sam aesthetic and customer demand
• Assist in the development of original designs and the refinement of core best-sellers, based on trend research and performance insights
• Contribute to the creation of moodboards, fabric and trim sourcing, and product development presentations
• Prepare and update tech packs to ensure clear communication with suppliers and manufacturers
• Liaise with factories to manage sample feedback, timelines, and approvals
• Source new suppliers and negotiate cost-effective agreements with existing suppliers
• Help manage the critical path from development through to production, tracking key dates and deliverables
• Conduct fit sessions and sample reviews and ensure make and quality meet brand standards
• Maintain accurate records of product specs, development notes, and supplier updates
• Research new construction techniques, fabrications, and finishes to elevate product innovation and quality
• Troubleshoot and resolve any production-related issues, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
• Assist in costings and ensuring product development aligns with pricing strategy and margin targets
• Analyse weekly sales reports to optimise sell-through and manage stock levels effectively through re-prices and markdowns

What We’re Looking For

• A tertiary qualification in Fashion Design, Product Development, or a related field
• 2+ years experience in a design or development role within the fashion industry
• A strong eye for detail, with solid knowledge of garment construction, fabrication, and production
• Supplier knowledge desirable
• A commercial mindset with the ability to balance trend and wearability
• Understanding of product development timelines, critical path planning, and supplier communication
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Google Workspace
• Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working in a nimble, fast-growing team
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Passion for fashion, innovation, and contributing to the growth of an emerging brand
