Garment Technician (Part-Time or Freelance)
Location: Richmond, VIC / Hybrid
Reports to: Senior Designer & Founder
Scarlet & Sam is an Australian fashion label with a focus on considered design, quality fabrication, and effortless wearability. As our Garment Technician, you’ll play a key role in upholding our reputation for premium fit, construction, and finish across all categories.
As the Garment Technician, you will partner closely with the design and production team to execute their creative vision while ensuring each garment meets Scarlet & Sam’s standards for fit, construction, detail, and workmanship.
Working across collections, you’ll help bring product to life and support key initiatives such as managing blocks, refining grading systems, and contributing to brand-wide fit and quality improvements.
Create detailed tech packs for new styles, ensuring the Designer’s direction for styling, fit, and workmanship is clearly communicated.
Manage and maintain garment blocks and size grading across all product categories, ensuring consistency and efficiency.
Lead and support fit sessions, providing technical advice to ensure optimal use of time and resources while maintaining standards.
Accurately measure garments and deliver clear, detailed fit comments to guide suppliers through sampling stages.
Ensure all fit, key measurements, workmanship, and grading meet company standards.
Oversee quality control, quality assurance, and care instructions to ensure products meet and exceed customer expectations.
Liaise with suppliers on all quality, testing, construction, and fit matters to guarantee production standards are met.
Nominate appropriate care labels and fabric testing requirements to support garment longevity and customer-friendly care.
Assist in managing production timelines, regularly updating dispatch and fit deadlines, fabric approvals, and trims status.
Coordinate style arrivals and maintain fit schedules ahead of fit sessions.
Contribute to ongoing fit review projects to standardise sizing and improve the customer experience across the brand.
Minimum 4–5 years’ experience in a similar role within a fast-paced retail or fashion environment.
Strong technical knowledge of garment construction, grading systems, and fit processes.
Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
Experience working with offshore production.
Sound understanding of garment specifications, quality assurance, and size grading.
Ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Part-time or freelance arrangement with flexibility around days and hours.
Hybrid working environment based in Richmond with a mix of in-office fit sessions and WFH focus time.
