Merchandise Planner (Part-Time or Freelance)

Job Summary
Scarlet & Sam is seeking an experienced Merchandise Planner to provide strategic merchandise planning, forecasting, and stock management support for our growing business. This role is responsible for analysing product and sales performance, building merchandise plans, managing the OTB, and partnering closely with production, design, buying, marketing, and leadership to ensure we deliver the right product at the right time.
The ideal candidate is commercially minded, detail-oriented, and confident in using data to guide decision-making and identifying growth opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all stock planning and buying activity.
- Liaise with production to ensure stock handover and timely receipt into 2PL.
- Set and manage the OTB with ongoing governance.
- Consolidate and raise purchase orders against the OTB, ensuring timely placement aligned with the milestone calendar.
- Manage stock integrity through exception reporting to ensure SOH accuracy.
- Maintain monthly sell-through reporting and monitor product performance.
- Lead replenishment and reordering strategies to ensure core and key items remain in stock.
- Manage inventory levels to optimise availability and minimise excess inventory.
- Develop merchandise plans aligned with business objectives and sales goals.
- Analyse sales data and market trends to forecast demand and identify opportunities for growth.
- Deliver timely and accurate sales, intake, closing stock, and margin KPIs.
- Manage and maintain the WSSI; determine and implement the appropriate forecasting framework.
- Plan the trade and tactical calendar in partnership with leadership.
- Forecast sales activity including markdown and promotional activity.
- Implement pricing architecture and recommend adjustments to assortment, pricing, and replenishment strategies.
- Work closely with the marketing team to support promotional strategies and brand awareness.
- Produce weekly trade reporting, including missed opportunities, best sellers, and worst sellers.
- Prepare monthly product performance reports with recommendations to improve sell-through, stock cover, and replenishment.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices to continually improve planning processes.
- Lead the seasonal review process (PSR), incorporating SWOT analysis to evaluate performance, risks, and opportunities.
- Develop range/option plan handovers based on PSR insights in collaboration with Buying/Design.
- Build action plans flowing from seasonal reviews and allocate owner responsibilities.
